Ephesians 5:22-33
THE DUTY OF HUSBANDS
I. Commitment to wife.
A. Supercedes commitment to parents. Gen 2; Eph 5:31
B. It is for a lifetime. Matt 19:9-10; Rom 7:2
C. Guard against the cancer of jealousy. Num 5:14; Prov 6:34
Question: Do you trust your husband?
How can he build up your trust?
II. Love wife. Col 3:19
A. It is a physical and emotional duty. 1 Cor 7:3; Eph 5:28-29
B. She should not have to earn it. Gen 29:32
C. Be better than the alternatives. Hosea 2:7
Question: What is the most loving thing your husband has done
lately?
III. Be considerate to wife. Matt 1:19
A. Or else prayers are hindered. 1 Pet 3:7
B. Provide a restful atmosphere for her. Ruth 1:9
C. Let her know she is valued. 1 Sam 1:5,8; Prov 31:28
D. Take pride in her. Prov 12:4, 31:11, Eph 5:26
E. Provide for them, but don't overdo it. Amos 4:1

considerate lately?
IV. Give leadership to wife. Eph 5:23
A. One of the results of the Fall Gen 3:16
B. Problems arise otherwise. Gen 3:6
C. Make sure leadership is godly. Acts 5:9; 1 Cor 14:35
D. Spiritual leadership is most important. 1 Cor 7:13
